As a professionally-trained chef, educator, and freelance writer, Susan embraces sharing information about ingredients, cooking tips and techniques, local food culture, and delightful food experiences. For six years, she wrote and produced her own monthly culinary newsletter for subscribers, and continues to create content for food, hospitality, and retail newsletters, magazines, and websites.
Recipe Writing
Susan writes recipes for use by consumers in home kitchens and professionals in commercial settings. She uses best practices in recipe writing, paying special attention to:
- formats appropriate for the use of the recipe
- properly listing ingredients, accurate measurements, and form
- clearly describing preparation methods
- listing yield or number and size of servings, prep and cook times, if desired
- noting additional information and serving suggestions
